Bringing together companies of the world's Chinese entrepreneurs and Korean companies!

Leading New Southern Policy and economic reinvigoration through expanded trade with Chinese entrepreneurs of the world

2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week to open in Changwon City in November

2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week will be held in Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do Province for three days from November 12 to 14. 2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week is a B2B event to promote substantive exchanges between Korean companies and companies of Chinese entrepreneurs boasting huge capital and global distribution network. It is hosted by Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Changwon City, Korea Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Korea Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and sponsored by the Presidential Committee on New Southern Policy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The incumbent government implemented the New Southern Policy to reinforce cooperation with ASEAN nations. Changwon City, in line with this policy, decided that Chinese entrepreneurs, with their enormous economic capacity and network, could offer new opportunities for Korea. With this recognition, it made a strong push to host an event for promoting exchanges with Chinese entrepreneurs by providing and supporting various opportunities for Chinese entrepreneurs with their economic authority in ASEAN, including expanding export of Korean companies, venturing into local markets, and attracting investments. Such efforts bore fruit in the form of 2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week.

Chinese entrepreneurs refer to the overseas Chinese doing business. There are currently around 60 million overseas Chinese around the world and more than 90% of them are based in the ASEAN region. A large number of them have become entrepreneurs with their diligence, integrity and outstanding financial prowess, growing into entrepreneurs representing the different ASEAN states.

While the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, a representative international event for Chinese entrepreneurs, is focused on networking and information exchange among Chinese entrepreneurs around the world, 2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week in the selected city of Changwon is the very first business-centered event and an excellent opportunity for Korean companies to expand their sphere of trade by engaging in exchanges with Chinese entrepreneurs. By building networks with Chinese entrepreneurs, Korean companies will be able to venture into emerging markets, establish local joint ventures, attract investment, promote their brand, and enjoy many other benefits to not only reinvigorate the local economy but also grow the Korean economy as part of the post-corona strategy.

Strong Leap toward Successful Opening of

2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week

Since receiving an official approval by the Chair Country (Singapore) of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in February this year to host 2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week, Changwon City has been preparing for the event by organizing a dedicated TF and announcing the opening of the event through a press briefing on July 16. During the briefing, Changwon Mayor Seong-Moo Huh said that "2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week will be a rare opportunity to meet with major companies run by Chinse entrepeneurs around the world that were not easily accessible until now, providing opportunities for Korean companies to start substantive business exchanges with Chinese entrepreneurs" and that "the city will do its best to make this a meaningful event for exchanges with Chinese entrepreneurs by supporting large participation by Korean companies in connection with the government's New Southern Policy."

The original plan for 2020 Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week was to invite companies of Chinese entrepreneurs to Changwon, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, it will be held as an online contactless event.

The event is focused on ensuring safety and efficiency of the event using a contactless format in response to COVID-19 by leveraging KWCE.NET, an online B2B platform, and OASIS, an online PR platform.

KWCE.NET, an online B2B platform, is an online exhibition platform that can be participated from anywhere without any spatial restrictions and gives you information on the world's Chinese entrepreneurs and major Korean companies in a single view through World Chinese Entrepreneurs Booth, Local Government Booth, and exhibition booths for Korea's diverse industries. It will showcase Korea's major industries to companies of Chinse entrepreneurs and the rest of the world.

Changwon City plans to ensure that the exchange between Chinese entrepreneurs and Korean companies is not a one-off occasion in this event but rather continues in the long term. It will work toward making Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week a regular event and establishing Korea·Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Center (tentative name) to create a window for Korean and Chinese entrepreneurs to do business through continuous global networking. Furthermore, KWCE.NET, the online B2B platform, will stay open even after the event in order to support business matching and commerce between Korean companies and Chinese entrepreneurs on a permanent basis using accumulated database of companies.
