Changwon City Hosts ‘Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week 2020’ Video Conference

Reaffirms commitment with ACCCIM for a successful K·WCEB 2020

Agrees to promote exchange and strengthen collaboration between Korean and Chinese businesses

At 3:30 pm on September 26, Changwon City (Mayor Huh Sung-moo) hosted a video conference with The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) to promote exchange and strengthen collaboration between Korean and Chinese businesses.

Changwon City has already held video conferences with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Aug. 26 and with Indonesia Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Sept. 24 to identify measures for a successful ‘Korea·World Chinese Entrepreneurs Business Week 2020 (K·WCEB 2020)’ and to reaffirm mutual commitment toward close collaboration.

The conference was held as an online meeting considering the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants from Korea included Mayor of Changwon City Huh Sung-moo, KCCCI President Song Guk-pyeong, and KBCCCI President Beom Dae-bok, while ACCCIM President Ter Leong Yap and members of the Secretariat took part as overseas panelists.

Established in 1921, ACCCIM has about 100,000 members including companies, individuals, and associations, and has great influence in the business circles of Malaysia through its strong network and many members.

During the conference, panelists discussed details of the K·WCEB 2020 and agreed to continue close collaboration to promote exchange and expand cooperation among Korean and Chinese businesses.

K·WCEB 2020 is a business event that will be held for three days from Nov. 12 to 14 to seek opportunities for exchange and trade between Korean and Chinese businesses. The Business Week will be held as an ‘untact’ event centered around online channels due to COVID-19.

The focus is on hosting a safe and efficient event through a non-face-to-face method in response to COVID-19. The event will be held through two platforms, an online B2B platform ‘KWCE.NET’ and online PR platform ‘OASIS’.

The online B2B platform, ‘KWCE.NET’, is an online exhibition platform that allows visitors to take part in without space restrictions. It is comprised of World Chinese Entrepreneurs Pavilion, Municipalities Pavilion, and exhibition halls of different industries of Korea for participants to see all global Chinese entrepreneurs and Korea’s key companies at one glance. The platform supports exchange between Chinese and Korean businesses through a biz-match program.

The online PR platform, ‘OASIS’ is a large-scale studio made in the shape of a round LED inside the exhibition venue, and will be used as a place to promote the products of each companies by creating a large PR show venue.

The Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry of each country showed interest and positive response toward the possibility of strong global networking through online business channels of KWCE.NET and OASIS despite the challenging environment of COVID-19.

Huh Sung-moo, Mayor of Changwon City, said “We are dedicated to preparing for the successful K·WCEB 2020 to meet the support and interest from Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry across the world, including ACCCIM, and will ensure that the exchanges between Chinese entrepreneurs and Korean businesses are not a one-off event, but a continued exchange” and added, “we look forward to the active participation of Chinese entrepreneurs as the event is a good opportunity to expand the scope of trade for not only Korean companies, but also Chinese entrepreneurs.”
